Friday 27th March

Happy Friday Rowan Class!

Hope that you've been able to view my little 'Hello' message to you all on the video above πŸ‘

Once again, I hope that you have found the blog posts useful - I haven't received any comments as of yet so I'm going to assume that everything else is OK - let me know if there is anything different I could be doing to help.

Here's some learning ideas for the day.

Maths - Something to get you started.

Have a look at this little game online to help you with the next task.

https://classroomsecrets.co.uk/year-2-place-value-charts-iwb-place-value-activity/

Hopefully that gave you a little reminder - now try this next activity (I have included an example too). You can draw out a quick place value chart like the one below and make some place value counters - circles of paper or card (some with 10 on to show 10s and some with a 1 on to show 1s).

 For example,

Literacy - Do you remember this guy?

One of the activities that I was really looking forward to doing with you was for you to create your own beast that could be a friend for the Lonely Beast (perhaps your beast came to the party at the end of the story). You could make your beast out of whatever material you like (playdough, junk modelling, or you may like to draw your beast instead). Then write a few sentences to describe what your beast is like. I'd love to hear about some of your creations.

Geography - You know the beast that you created earlier? Where does he come from? Explore a map or globe if you have one or ask an adult if you can look at one safely online. When you have chosen a place - use what you know about maps and globes to tell me more about where your beast lives. Is it near the equator? Near to the coastline? Think back to the work we did on St Lucia and the Isle of Coll in Scotland to help you.

I've also added a new Sumdog challenge which will be available from Friday 27th March 9am until Sunday 7pm to give you a bit more flexibility to complete.

Also wanted to draw your attention to the Max Whitlock You Tube channel https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9MIJ5dLdEw0 Miss Askew found this channel and asked me to share it with you as there are so many keen gymnasts in Rowan class. Could be worth a look - 6 minute long videos.

Hope you all have a good weekend.

Thank you for all your ideas and support on the blog. They have been great for filling in gaps and building upon, and it's very reassuring to know we still have your guidance.
We have been working lots on telling the time, Reading by phone to nanny and Slumdog. As well as jumpstart Johnny (with Phoebe).
Hope everyone at the Good house is doing well and enjoying time together.
