Thursday 26th March

Hey Rowan Class!

Hope that you are all well and enjoying some bonus time with your families. It was great to see that lots of you took part in the Sumdog challenge - I can see when you have been using it and I'm so glad to see that it is being used - hope you are enjoying it! I will start a new challenge ready for Friday that can last over the weekend too.

Did you get out in the sun at all yesterday? Hope that you managed to do something physical like PE with Joe Wicks or Jump Start Johnny. Leave me a comment to let me know the kind of things you have been doing.

Here's some ideas for Thursday.

Maths - here is a starter activity. We do lots of these types of problems in our CLIP groups or on the carpet with a whiteboard. Have a go at this one.

Next, get out your number cards that are in your home learning pack and have a go at this. You can write down the calculations in your orange book.

Literacy - continue to practise those sounds using either the Read Write Inc You Tube videos (see yesterday's blog post) or use the sound packs that you have taken home with you.

In your pack you may also have found a card and envelope. In times like this when we are not able to see some members of our family as often as we would like we need to keep in touch with them in other ways. Perhaps you have been able to use a mobile phone or tablet to see and speak to them? We are lucky to have that sort of technology now but before we did, letters were an important way of keeping in touch.

I would like you to write a card to someone special. Tell them what you have been doing in these last few days and perhaps ask them some questions about how they are and what they have been doing. I'm sure you will be able to remember whether you need to use a full stop or a question mark at the end of your sentence. If you have asked a question, what should you use?

If you have used your card and envelope already, no problem. I'm sure you can find some paper at home to write another letter - or use a page out of your exercise book.

Topic work - How shall we rebuild London? Imagine the Great Fire of London has just happened. You have been given the job of rebuilding London. What will it look like? How will you make sure that same sort of disaster won't happen again? You could use Lego to do this or some other form of construction. I'd love to hear the ideas that you had.

As always, please feel free to leave any comments or the school office is still open if you need to get a message to me that way.

Stay safe everyone.

Mrs Good
