Wednesday 1st April

Hey Rowan Class,

It's the last day before the Easter holidays and what a strange end to the Spring term it has been.

I have received a couple of messages via the school office, which I have appreciated - thank you. Miss Yates wonders if parents need to have a gmail account in order to be able to comment? I will try to think of a way around it over the Easter break. Apologies to those of you who have found it tricky to find the blog posts on the class page - I wonder if you would all be able to use the power of social media to assist others in getting to the blog posts if they haven't been able to thus far? Perhaps there is a Rowan Facebook page for example?

I will include a little video to sign off before Easter so here are the final tasks before the holidays if you would like some ideas.

Maths starter - this activity will help you to practise giving clear directions - particularly using 'left' and 'right'.

Maths- we all enjoyed the work we did on Multiplication a couple of months ago where we were arranging multiplications as arrays.  We started to find arrays all over the place! Here are some examples to refresh your memory.

Using whatever you have at home (beads, cars, lego bricks, sweets etc) can you make arrays like the ones above to show different multiplications? For example, how many different arrays can you make with 12 items? 24 items? Can you record these as multiplication sentences? You may like to also try this.
Literacy - Some of you may be practising these as you go along but if you haven't, take the opportunity to practise your spellings and your handwriting. Stuck inside your home learning exercise books was an example of how we join our handwriting and on the Rowan class page on the school website, you will find the Year 1 and 2 spelling lists. Use your best handwriting to practise spelling maybe 5/6 of these words. Challenge yourself to choose words that you know you find tricky. Miss Yates has also put a link to free Read Write Inc e-books on the Home learning page of the school website (under Parents tab).

Outdoor learning - this activity has been taken from our Outdoor learning activities (also found on the school website) and as the sun is continuing to shine at the moment it may be a good one to have a go at.

Hoping you all have a happy and healthy Easter holidays.

Mrs Good
